How to check if a business use is allowed in Calgary

SiteFit connects your proposed business with property information and the evidence that still needs review.

  1. Describe your business

Search or browse all business categories, add any combined activities, and confirm your operations and building scenario. Create separate profiles for different business ideas. Unreviewed classifications stay unresolved.

  2. Explore a property

Search the current property dataset or select a parcel. Inspect its source label, current land-use map context and missing checks.

  3. Keep the evidence together

Save candidates on this device, add notes, compare up to five and export dated reports.

  4. Confirm before you commit

Use the report's questions and official links to follow up with City Planning and the property owner.

What a pathway means

Permitted and discretionary pathways describe how a listed use is assessed. Other approvals and property conditions may still apply. “Not listed” describes the published district rules; missing evidence always means “Further review needed.”

A “potential pathway” means the district recorded for a property lists your proposed use, transcribed from the published bylaw. It is a shortlist of where to look, not a finding about any property.

SiteFit stores profiles and notes in this browser. Clearing browser data removes them. Reports can be exported as HTML for sharing and printing to PDF, or as JSON for an exact data record.
